The Paradox of our age
We have bigger houses, but smaller families;
More conveniences, but less time.
We have more degrees, but less sense;
More knowledge, but less judgements,
More experts, but more problems;
More medicines, but less healthiness;
We've been all the way to the moon and back,
But have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbor.
We build more computers to hold more information,
to produce more copies than ever, but have less communication.
We have become long on quantity, but short on quality.
These are times of fast foods, but slow digestion;
Tall mall, but short character;
Steep profits, but shallow relationships.
It's a time when there is much in the window , but nothing in the room.

我們有更大的房子, 但是家庭卻變小了。
有更多的便利, 但是時間卻變少了。
我們有更多的學問, 但是覺知卻變少了。
有更多的知識, 但是更少正確的判斷。
有更多的專家,但是問題卻變多了。
有更多的醫藥，但是健康卻變少了，
我們已經去過月球又回來，但是過個街去認識新鄰居卻有困難，
我們製造了更多的電腦來保存更多的資訊，好製作最多的複製文件
但是溝通卻減少了。
我們成為了在數量上眾多,但是在品質上貧乏。
這是吃得快速但是消化緩慢的時代，
人類長得高大但是缺乏品格，
獲利深厚但是關係卻很膚淺，
這是一個櫥窗內很豐富但是房間裡卻空空如也的時代。
